Ball Sports, Shopping, & E-Readers

I grew up with 4 brothers and male cousins who played every “ball sport” imaginable–baseball, basketball, football, etc. I was required to attend all their games. I think that’s the basis of my disinterest in ball sports as an adult. But my family loves ball sports! (My husband and youngest daughters are avid Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears fans. My grandchildren are St. Louis Cardinals fans; Cousins are Green Bay Packers fans, etc.) I want to be with my family. So, we compromise: I go to the games with them, but I get to take my Kindle along with me, and I get to eat snacks–lots of snacks.

I also hate to shop. It doesn’t matter what kind of shopping it is. My girlfriends like to take several shopping trips together each year. They quickly discovered that if they sit me down in a bakery or bar with my Kindle while they shop, I am a lot more pleasant. Yes, I know. I’m pathetic.

This was all prior to Covid-19, of course. No games or shopping now, but I’m curious. Does anyone else do this?
